Requesting Books Online through OhioLINK
OhioLINK is a network of academic, research and public libraries in Ohio that share borrowing privileges and online resources. Students, faculty, and staff who live close to a member library are welcome to request an item through OhioLINK:
- if it is on reserve for a course,
- not in the library collection,
- or already checked out to someone else.
Below are the instructions for placing a request:
- Start by searching in the Library Catalog.
- If no results for CWRU come up or the item is unavailable, click on the Search OhioLINK button.
- Review the list of libraries that have the item the OhioLINK catalog. You might have to click the Display Holdings of OhioLINK Libraries link to see if they are any copies available.
- Click on the green Request button if there are copies available.
- On the next screen, select CWRU from the dropdown menu for school or institution.
- Enter your Case network ID and password in the Request Verification form under Students, staff, and faculty.
- Specify a pick-up location for the requested material. You can select a different library if another one is closer to you.
Once you submit your information, you will get a confirmation message. Usually your item should arrive at the circulation desk in 3-5 business days. Note for Fall 2021: Please allow more than 3-5 business days because the pandemic has caused delays.
Finding Books Outside Ohio
If you live outside Ohio, you can use WorldCat, an online catalog of library collections around the world, to find out if a library near you has the books you need for your course assignments. All you do is:
- Search for the item in WorldCat.
- Once you've located your book, click on the record for it.
- Enter your zip code under Find a Copy in the Library.
